Thousands of gis and colored belts descend upon downtown July 9-15 as Little Rock welcomes the return of the annual ATA World Expo. Held each year in Arkansas’s capital city, the event draws martial artists from around the globe for classes and competitions.
As one of the world’s largest martial arts organizations, the ATA has more than 130,000 members dedicated to self-discipline techniques and life skills. Founded by Eternal Grand Master H.U. Lee in 1969, the ATA world headquarters moved to Little Rock in 1977 from Omaha, Nebraska. ATA is dedicated to the Songahm style of Taekwondo.
The H.U. Lee International Gate and Garden is located beside the Statehouse Convention Center, and serves as a memorial to Eternal Grand Master Lee’s determination and dedication.
